Weekly Pics is a peek into the visual diaries of designers and design professionals. This time it takes us to Design Cruise and Stockholm Furniture Fair with Helsinki Design Week’s producer Helena Fernström.
Espoo Museum of Modern Art, EMMA, is full of people when the danish-icelandic artist and designer Olafur Eliasson opens his exhibition Pentagonal Landscapes in EMMA. Saastamoinen foundation has bought Olafur Eliasson’s work Pentagonal mirror tunnel. In his honor EMMA is showing a collection of the artist’s works.
Design Cruise, organized for the second time together with Helsinki Design Week and Silja Line, took its travellers to the Stockholm Furniture and Light Fair and Stockholm Design Week. On the boat, we had two exciting presentations: from stylist, blogger and designer Anna Pirkola and textile designer Johanna Gullichsen. Mesmerizing Sami Sykkö was the host of the cruise.
I set foot into a large entrance hall, and this catches my eye:
Treats for the eyes and mouth! Similar to the entrance hall, the Design Bar has an annual make over. This time the restaurant was designed by Swedish Note Design Studio. The Design Bar is part design festival, part world-class restaurant, and it has clearly been an opportunity for out-of-the-box thinkin. The colours ranging from light pink to deep burgundy are truly wonderful! Soft pastels are still clearly trendy – these colours are everywhere at the Fair.
