Hakola’s novelties are born as a result of the designers and Jurva-based makers’ dialogue. The makers join the product development process early on, and the solutions honour the artisans’ extensive experience of furniture making.

Hakola is a design trendsetter creating ways of working for the future and new traditions for design. The Hakola family has more than 50 year’s experience in furniture making. Our products are still made by hand at our own factory in Jurva. The courage to do differently is deeply invested in our story. For our part, we’re doing our best to maintain carpentry skills in Finland. We are creating a new tradition of carpentry, wanting to invest in design, and we are not afraid to use new methods side by side with traditional techniques.

Hakola – New Nordic Traditions
Concept: Annaleena Hämäläinen
Exhibition architecture: Hanna Anonen

Held at the palace at Erottaja 2, the Room with a View exhibition consists of about thirty rooms which each provide a different perspective on design work. The participants invited to exhibit represent various design fields, including clothing design, glass art, research, furniture design, graphic design and architecture.

Open from 11 am to 7 pm every day except Monday, 9 September.
