Published in September, Jengi – keksijän kätkössä is book two of the Jengi (Gang) series by illustrators Jenni Tuominen (b. 1976) and Jukka Pylväs (b. 1974). It is a sequel to the popular book Jengi – siististi sotkussa (Etana Editions), published in 2018. The debut picture book by Tuominen and Pylväs was an ode to doing things together and making an anarchistic mess.
The exhibition based on the new picture book features illustrations, sketches, paper cuts and the published book hot from the press. The delightful cast of characters, cheerfully bright colours and the spirit of doing things together, all familiar from the pages of the book, can also be seen in the exhibition. The Opening Party and Book Launch, open to everyone, will be held on Thursday, 5 September at 6 pm.
Jengi – keksijän kätkössä is a fun and exciting adventure, a story of how everything is not what seems at first sight. The exhibition serves as a learning climate, encouraging children and adults to plunge into the world of illustration together.
The exhibition venue is Galleria Kuvitus, the only gallery in Finland specializing in illustration art, managed by the Finnish Illustration Association. The gallery has some thresholds and stairs, so unfortunately it is not fully accessible to everyone. However, the gallery staff are happy to help all visitors, and you can also contact us in advance about your visit.
The exhibition will be on display until 28 September.
