Ceramics and basketry were the first crafts developed by humans. Some of the oldest ceramics were moulded over baskets, which left their trace on the ceramics’ outer surface when fired. As a contemporary analogy we are applying machine-made copper mesh onto ceramic vases, tracing unique, intricate line drawings onto the ceramic surface.
Ceramics Cu is a collection of vases comprised of ceramic, copper and silica where each ingredient is transformed to create a unique object through the firing process. These three ingredients react at the same temperature, leaving traces on each other. Copper melts and bonds onto the ceramic leaving a precise and expressive line drawing on its surface. Silica glazes the ceramic making it waterproof while turning deep green as it comes into contact with the copper drawing.
DesignPartners19 gathers creatives with much more in common than expected under the same roof. In the hall of the palace, shoe designer meets material supplier, lighting manufacturer meets fashion designer, and furniture company meets chef extraordinaire. Potential partners can meet and present their views and skills in a shared space. The exhibition will be a surprising, memorable experience for all, and each participant’s audience will grow thanks to the collaboration.
Open from 11 am to 7 pm every day except Monday, 9 September.
