Built in 1918, the residence of the Italian Embassy in Eira was originally offered to house the potential King of Finland, Friedrich Karl. He declined, however, and Finland became a republic.

Matteo Ragni will participate in the Design Diplomacy discussion from Italy to meet his Finnish counterpart Minna Parikka.

Matteo Ragni is an Italian designer. His working relationships with Italian and international producers have allowed him to construct a modus operandi that adapts to the background and history of each individual brand, in the conviction that this is the only way for the role of the designer to take on an ethical character, contributing to true evolution. Ragni is twice winner of the Compasso d’Oro prize (2001, 2014), in 2008 he won the Wallpaper Design Award, and in 2012 he won the National Award for Innovation “Premio dei Premi”, a prestigious award given by the Presidency of the Italian Republic. In 2015 he won the Good Design Award prize.

Minna Parikka is a shoe designer from Helsinki. After secondary school she moved to Great Britain to study shoe design at De Montfort University in Leicester. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in shoe design in 2002. The Minna Parikka products have been featured in many international media, and the brand has achieved a cult following on social media. Minna Parikka’s shoes are worn by both Finnish and international celebrities, including Cara Delevingne, Taylor Swift, the Jenners and the Kardashians. Parikka designed platinum shoes for Lady Gaga as a prize for the double platinum sales of The Fame Monster album.
