The Sata lasissa -glass design exhibition is a joint tribute by Finnish designer Mikko Paakkanen and Iittala glassmasters to Finnish glass design. Stunning, unique pieces of glass design are on display from 7th of September to 30th of September, 2017 at Clarion Hotel Helsinki and Clarion Hotel Helsinki Airport.

The participants of the exhibition are designer Mikko Paakkanen and Iittala glassmasters’ Ossi Linna, Arto Viikki and Tero Välimaa.

Mikko Paakkanen´s quote of the project: “With the masters we got the idea of making a common glass exhibition about a year ago. The fruitful cooperation with the same masters for eight years allows the development of new techniques and the emergence of completely new types of glass art. We share the common passion for experimenting and into glass as a material. Glass blowers are artisans working under harsh conditions, with whom I have found a common intent, which inspires both parties. Finland is internationally renowned for its high quality glasswork and proudly we want to be part of continuing this tradition in Finland’s year of celebration.”

The Clarion Hotel is the main co-operating partner of the Helsinki Design Week in 2017. Clarion Hotel Helsinki is exhibiting four different installations during the Design week, which also serves as a venue for many events. On 7th of September, 2017 will also open the exhibition of Kalevala Koru, Secto Design and HejHylje at the hotel. Free admission.
