Located in the historical Kaivopuisto district, the Embassy of Belgium in Helsinki and the residence are under the same roof in a building built in 1970. The unique design is the fruit of a Finnish-Belgian cooperation by the Belgian Roger Bastin and a Finnish architect couple, Lars and Mona Hedman. Aalto’s late style in the 1950-60s, specifically with brick as the construction material, is compact and functional in its language.

We will hear an interesting discussion between the creative director and UX strategist Alok Nandi and Pekka Koponen, Development Director at Forum Virium Helsinki.

Alok Nandi has followed the waves of digital transformation for years, designing websites and leading design teams. In 2004, he launched Architempo to explore the multiple dimensions of design: from interactive solutions to pan-European strategic campaigns, from exhibitions (Red Dot design museum, St-Etienne Design Biennale) to interventions and conferences (Chair of Interaction14 in Amsterdam, PechaKucha Nights w/ 60+ editions). Architempo’s clients range from education to institutions to companies in health, transportation and food systems.

Pekka Koponen is Development Director at Forum Virium Helsinki, an innovation unit within the City of Helsinki organization, focusing on new, disruptive digital services. It is a non-profit facilitator, working together with private companies, cities and academia, involving citizens in the early phases of a design process and the testing of services. Both user experience and service design have a key role in scaling up services successfully.

Seats are limited and registration is binding.
