OpenHouseHelsinki unconfines spaces normally restricted to public. Guided tours lead visitors to interesting buildings, interiors, landmarks and old and more recent architectural destinations. The tours are free of charge and powered by architects and other experts.
OpenHouseHelsinki 2009 tours:
Alvar Aalto home, Alvar Aalto Studio, Embassy of Iraq, Embassy of Germany, Embassy of Norway, Helsinki City Hall, Domus Gaudium, new Varma premises at Salmisaari, Hakaniemi office building, Hanasaari B power plant, Hietalahti Dockyard and STX Europe Dockyard
Walking tours: Lapinlahti hospital park area and Munkkisaari by Aalto and Saarinen.
OpenHouseHelsinki goes Espoo: Tuomarila kindergarden and Espoo Steiner School.
Tickets:
Free entrance. Due to limited number of visitors, visitors must hold tickets to the tours (excluding walking tours and OpenHouseHelsinki goes Espoo). Tickets are available from 24th of August to 12th of September at Virka Info in Helsinki City Hall (Address: Pohjoisesplanadi 11-13, open Mon-Fri 9 am.- 7pm. and Sat-Sun 11 am.-5 pm) and Laituri (Address: Narinkkatori 2, open Tue-Fri 10am.-6pm., Sat noon-4 pm.) Max. 2 tickets per person per tour.
